Notes
Tom made a,visit to kitukiro village to supervise and document the casting borehole installation process. The work of casting went on well with village members especially the men helping in the mixing of the concrete mix and pushing it on the wheelbarrow into the concrete mould. After the casting and concrete work, the Draco team were able to install 8 pipes in to the borehole to a depth of 24 meters. Initially according to the pump testing results, the team wanted to install 7 pipes at a depth of 21 meters but Tom advised and requested them to put 8 at 24 meters based on the borehole capacity. The team consulted from their head office and their directors agreed to Tom’s request. After the install, the team pumped water for the first time from the borehole and this over excited the village residents who started dancing and singing. Many of the red were singing Kibo’s and thanking kibo for the blessing and gift of the borehole. Later the team removed the bolt to the chain connected to the handle and gave it to Tom. The borehole cement should be left to cure and harden for 10 days before any pumping can start. Tom advised the village to put either thorns around the concrete so that children and animals should not step on it to destroy it before it dried.
