Notes
Ida went to Bukudhumira to continue teaching about chicken coop building as well as visiting homes. She moved with the treasurer Sofia in eight homes checking on some individual chicken coops. Kateme Ritah asked Ida to help them buy genuine vaccines in Jinja because their drug shops in Bukudhumira have expired and fake vaccines. Ida encouraged the community members to work together hand in hand with the sub county vet doctor because he/ she knows the genuine drugs and it’s their responsibility to help their community. These vet doctors attend monthly seminars to equip them with new skills. When Ida phases out soon, the vet doctor will be helping where necessary so that sustainability is practical. As Ida was visiting homes, she realized that some community members tried out different things. Not all of them are keeping chickens, some have ducks , turkeys and others have rabbits. Ida thanked them for being creative and trying to do new things. Fauza reported that the community has a market for the turkeys and rabbits which has motivated them so much. Ida asked the members to help their neighboring communities with ideas of how to find markets and to encourage them do different things ( Turkeys ducks and rabbits) In the eight homes that Ida visited, all of them had good latrins, dish racks, newly dug rubbish pits hand washing stands goats and stoves. Ida asked the community to keep up the hygiene and sanitation standards in order to eliminate poor hygiene related diseases. Ida will go back to finalize the building of chicken coops and visit remaining homes that she didn’t visit then. Swaibu closed the day with a prayer ( swallah)
