Tom made a visit to Nabikenge village to assess the sanitation and hygiene standards and update the data in the third evaluation. Tom was updating those homes that were missing facilities at the time when the third evaluation was being conducted.
When Tom arrived in the village, most of the committee members and many village residents had gone for covid vaccinations. All the VHTS were in the vaccination exercise. Tom was only able to move three people the chairman and Norah a committee member. They both took Tom through the upper section down wards.
As they moved and checked the homes and their facilities, Tom realized a great improvement in facilities in the homes. The chairman mentioned that after kibo had left, people started encouraging themselves and many started improving without being told. In some homes, the chairman said he has had to visit them to encourage them especially the lower section where the soil is sandy.
Many residents when they saw Tom were happy and thanked Kibo for the work it did in the village. One woman specifically thanked Tom for getting her husband to construct her a latrine. She said if it might have not been for Kibo, up-to now may be she would still be without a latrine but the thanked kibo for changing and improving her home.
