Notes
Suzan went to the village and first carried out a home to home visit at the lower section of the village. She walked along with three active local leaders Musa, Hussein and madam Aisha Nabirye who kept on directing her to the homes which had not been visited previously. On the way, Suzan observed that the homes were a bit a distance apart and the women were found cooking on the traditional three stones open flames stove inside their unsmeared kitchens . She briefly kept on explaining to the members about the new healthy and safe kitchens program and requested them to go for a meeting at the center for more details. They visited about 16 homes at the lower section and later went back at the meeting center where they found some members already gathered. The chairperson L.C.1 opened the meeting with a short prayer and the invited Kibo staff to take over the meeting. Suzan began addressing the community by introducing the healthy and safe kitchens program, it’s main goals and objectives and asked the members if they were interested in the new program or not. Surprisingly, all the members accepted the program after listening to it’s goals and objectives such as empowering them with the skills of building the improved fuel efficient stoves and improving on their general sanitation and hygiene and in the kitchens and areas surrounding the entire homes. The members participated in answering all the questions that Suzan asked them such as the challenges they faced while cooking on the three stones open flames stoves, and Suzan encouraged them to keep attending all the program lessons which will enable them learn skills on how to improve on their cooking methods in their kitchens and other facilities. They all agreed to attend all the program lessons and Suzan thanked everyone for attending the meeting and wished them well.
