Notes
Abraham met Kitukiro community members and discuss about caring for goats which include how they maintain the things they did with those who first in the village like hygiene and sanitation. They were supposed to do home to home visit but the discussion took them long time. Abraham told the meeting that they have to work on hygiene and sanitation, making sure the stoves are maintained, he thanked them for putting back the fence on their bore hole. They have to continue maintaining what Kibo did in the village in order to get a goat and he encouraged the leaders to be checking them to make sure they are keeping them. He emphasized on three things 1- shelter for the goats, 2-feeding them and 3-treatment them. One of the community member called Simon told the meeting that he was trained by the government how to treat, feed the animals including cows. He said that he is going to work together to see that their goats do well and he promised to give each member grass for feeding animals to set aside a portion on their land to plant them. He was given this type of grass by the government by the time the government was giving cows to some community members. The chairperson LC1 Mr Kasadha added that not only Simon but whoever has any idea of how they can keep their animals well is welcome because it is for the benefit of the community. He said that they have been checking the homes with plan international officials and only some few whereby their dish racks got spoiled by aunts and they need to replace them. The chairperson of the community Mss Base said that together with the LC1 committee will be going around checking how the members are doing on Kibo programs. She said that they are going to start planting grass for the goats so that by the time they will get goats the grass will be ready, she also encouraged each member to plant back cloth tree which is good for animals during dry season. Mr Gonza who is the oldest man in the community said that they will be treat their goats as a community not individually to help them as old people to get the service and when they do individual it is easy some members to forget. Mr said that he opposes the idea of the old man to treat goats together because most people do not want to treat their animals, the vet doctor may come and members say they don’t have the money to treat their goats They will continue discussing about caring for goats emphasizing how they will treat their goats as individual or as a community.
