Notes
Tape went to Kamudoke village to continue teaching participants in group A how to practically build stoves. She found when the participants had already gathered the building materials at Christine’s home whom the community had the identified participant for a stove. This home qualified because it had all the home facilities in place well smeared and she has been active in the healthy and safe kitchen program from the time it started in the village. Kibo staff measured the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1, asked the community to participate in stamping the dirt . This was done as the community sung songs of success and remaining each other about the importance of team work because it will lead them to success. She also emphasized on the community to participate because the program aims at empowering the community with a skill of building stoves because practice makes perfect every one was encouraged to practice. In this group there were three active men who were very interested in the program and participated in measuring banana stems as Tape guided them because they wanted to be in charge of that. Kibo staff asked a few participants to join her in the kitchen to watch the process of building stoves. She successfully built a stove as she explained the whole process. The community asked a lot of questions which was encouraging to see. When the stove was complete , Kibo staff asked the community to continue participating in stove building until they master the skill.Christine’s husband who participated in the stove building process thanked the community for having given them a chance to get a stove and promised to continuing working with the group members until every one gets stove. He also thanked Kibo’s approach of encouraging them to work together which has united them as a community and the meeting came to an end.
