Tom and the visitors Larry, Kay, and Kevin made a visit to kisiro village to see what kibo has been doing in the community as well as seeing how the community has been participating in the clts program. When they reached the village, they found when some of the committee members were waiting for them in the trading centre.Tom and the visitors were joined by the committee members to move around the village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements. They first started from the trading centre where they saw some new facilities as well as a new latrine under construction. From the trading centre they moved to the section of the village called Isamba to check on what the residents have been doing in terms of improving on their sanitation and hygiene. While moving, they met a new home recently established and the resident had already finished digging the pit for the latrine. Tom, the committee members and the visitors thanked the residents for his efforts towards digging the pit and encouraged him to finish it before moving into the new house. Along the way, they met a resident digging the pit and they all thanked and encouraged him to work hard and finish it. In the next home they found a newly constructed latrine with bricks, cement and iron sheets. As they continued, they met another resident who had just finished digging and had constructed the floor of the latrine onto the pit. The pit was about 25ft. He had also brought the grass for thatching the roof of the latrine and the same resident had started digging a new pit for his brother. Tom and the committee members thanked the resident for the great work and encouraged him to continue working and finish the latrine. They also met more residents digging their pits while in another home, they found there was no latrine and there was open defecation. The committee members said they will meet with the men in those homes where there was open defecation so as to encourage them to also dig and construct latrines so as to stop open defecation. After, Tom the visitors and the committee members moved back to the trading centre where the visitors thanked the community especially the committee members for the great work they are doing to improve the sanitation and hygiene of their village. The committee members also thanked the visitors for choosing to visit their village. Tom encouraged the community and the committee members to continue improving so that the community becomes open defecation free.
