Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa to teach the lesson of poultry(Feeding). She got when the community was ready for the lessons. This was very impressive and it shows how interested the community is to learn the poultry lessons. The chairman mr. Waiswa Patrick from the lower Bulyowa, opened with the word of prayer. He thanked Wako and Wilbur for inviting him over. They have been pestering him and some of his members to attend the lessons, but he used to dodge them. He now sees the reason for him to attend the community empowerment lessons. He went on to say that he will not default in attending the lessons. He requested Diana to take the lessons to them in their area, as he sat down. Diana thanked him for being a good student, the community members laughed as they clapped their hands in a sign of welcoming him. Wako requested Diana to make the next meeting in the lower Bulyowa, Diana told him that it is a good idea and she will look into it. Diana asked them what they remember from the previous lesson, Nabirye said that she learnt about poultry lessons, about laying stations and hatching. She went a head to say that a hatching station should be clean a and the eggs have to be clean. Diana thanked her for the contribution. She encouraged the community to embrace these lessons and put them into practice. Diana introduced the lesson of the day which was poultry feeding. She gave the community a printout of the lesson of day (feeding), which they followed as she explained everything on the paper. When Diana finished she went a head to ask some questions about the lesson, which the community answered, meaning that they understood everything that was taught to them. Sabasi also asked the importance of giving the chicks cotton seed cake. Diana responded that cotton seed cake gives the chicken carbohydrates, hence making it energetic, Margrate retorted like a human being? Diana told her yes. Since the human need energy so is the chicken also. Diana told them that the poultry lessons are still continuing, she will continue with it in the next visit. The chairman thanked Diana for taking them through a beautiful lesson which will promote development in their community.
