Notes
Abraham mulongo and Chris went to this village to continue with discussions on opening a community bank account, during the previous lesson the community acknowledged the need to have a very safe and reliable way of saving money both for community and individuals and they agreed that opening a bank account is one of those ways of keep their safe and therefore they would have a community meeting and discuss more about it. While in the community Chris and Abraham first made home visits before they could settle for meeting, they visited 12 homes , these home visits have really made an impact as far as mobilization, sensitization about the program and strengthening our relationship with the community are concerned, this was evident when Chris and Abraham visited Mr Ngobi at his home, he was very excited and happy to welcome Kibo staff at his home, he said this really showed that Kibo practices what they preach because they even reach homes of the members, Mr Ngobi said Kibo is the only organization that knows where and how every member stays in their homes, he said this kind of relationship Kibo has with them can never be taken for granted. During the meeting Abraham and Chris explained the expectations of the community from the bank they would like to have their account and the requirements they should be having, they also mentioned about what the the bank expects from the community. Abraham encouraged the community to start thinking big and have big expectations from their garden and many projects the community would engage in , he said in future the community will have big capital which will lead to big profits and therefore having a bank account will be safe for the community. The chairman LC2 ,Mr Kawologoma Godfrey was very happy that Kibo is teaching the community about opening a bank account and encouraged the community members to embrace the idea because the government initiative of parish development model where the government offers financial support to registered communities falls directly under his office , he said only registered communities with bank accounts will benefit from the government programs. Chris and Abraham then proceeded to check on the onions garden , they were very amazed by the cooperation of the community members on their garden. Chris will continue with the discussions on opening bank account on Friday this week.
