Notes
Tape went to Mpumiro village to teach participants in Group B about smearing. The meeting begun with an open prayer that was led by Tom Kanyerere who thanked the lord for providing journey mercies to kibo staff . Tape first reviewed the previous lesson about policy formation , interestingly all the participants remembered all the policies they set up.One participants called Tumuhise remarked that because they set penalties for late coming to the meeting all the participants have arrived at the meeting place on time. Tape applauded them for practicing the policies they set them selves and asked them to keep it up. She taught them about smearing and its importance like keeping the house neat, last longer as well as prevent dust which harbor insects like jiggers and fleas which are harmful to their health. She went ahead and taught them the materials used to smear their home facilities like ash, sand, cow dung and water and these materials are locally freely found in their homes. She asked the participants whether it was a good idea to smear their home facilities. They all supported the idea and they chose an the kitchen of an elderly woman Sarah to be the first one to smear. That is to be the home where a demonstration excessive of smearing should be carried out. Tape together with the participants mixed the smearing materials as Tape took the lead. Together with the community smeared Sarah’s kitchen. At the end of the lesson Sarah thanked community for showing her love by smearing her kitchen. She also thanked kibo for teaching the community the value of working together. Tape went ahead and asked the community to continue smearing their home facilities in preparation of stove building exercise. She also encouraged them to continue working as a team for the program to be successful.
