Maria went to Nawandyo A, lower section to teach about Measles and chicken pox. The meeting started with a word of prayer from Yahaya, the chairperson gave his remarks encouraging members to come in time. Maria was then invited to speak to the community members Maria welcomed everyone, made a review of the last lesson which was diarrhea ad pneumonia, then introduced the topic of the day as Measles and chicken pox. Community members together with the health educator discussed the mode of spread of both chicken pox and Measles, sings and symptoms, prevention and treatment. Scovia a victim of chicken pox shared her story of how she contradicted the disease; when she visited a neighbor who had the disease, she spent a while there but when she returned home a few days later scovia started experiencing fever then big blisters appeared on her body. She shared this experience after learning how chicken pox is spread. Further still the difference between chicken pox and Measles were discussed, the risk factors, how to prevent both Measles and chicken pox. Members were encouraged to go to hospital for proper medication by the health educator. Harriet discussed how she treats her children using local herbs; Smear banana on the whole body, give goats milk to the sick person, among others but Maria advised the participants to take their children to hospital for proper medication, encouraged participants to isolate the sick child, go to hospital as early as possible to avoid taking risks, embrace immunization. The chairperson ended the meeting with a word of prayer.
