Notes
Maria Visited Nawandyo A, upper section to teach about measles and chicken pox. She welcomed the new community members that had come for their first time to the meeting.Community members together with the health educator discussed the signs and symptoms of of both chicken pox and Measles. Miriam shared and said that measles brings rushes, loss of appetite, fever etc. Further still, Andrew a father of 6 children gave some signs that he saw on his boy child , big blisters which later forms a black mark, red and painful eyes, fever among others. Maria then discussed with community members the differences between chicken pox and Measles; chicken pox appear with big rash blister which later are filled with fluids where as measles bring small rashes, chicken pox leave black scars whereas Measles peel off and leave a young skin. The health educator said that chickenpox and measles share some signs. The health educator then wanted to know how community members manage Measles and chicken pox locally. Florence said they smear paraffin around the body, give local herbs, give raw goats milk to the patient etc. After the many responses from the members, Maria advised the participants to take any person with the signs to the hospital as early as possible for proper medication and as well immunize their children so that their bodies are given more protection. The community members were so great full for the knowledge given to them by the health educator.
