When Lorna arrived at the School, she went to the head teachers office where they had a little chat about the Life Skills Schedule. He was telling Lorna that from 12:30 pm - 1pm there was going to be a general assembly. Lorna however mentioned to him that this was not discussed before when we made a visit with the Inspector of Schools.Lorna requested that the assembly be rescheduled for Monday Morning since it’s even good for the pupils because they are fresh in their minds and that also it will not inconvenience the life Skills lesson. Mr. Ijala the deputy head teacher told Lorna that he would make changes. Lorna then went to the Life Skills class where together with the Life Skills teacher at the school, they were able to carry out the review / corrections of the pretest and also introduce to the students all the topics they will be learning under Life Skills. During the lesson,It was a little hard for the start as students were afraid to lift up their hands, give answers and also responding to questions especially in English as they found it easy to respond to questions in the local language but this was understandable because it’s been a whole 2 years of not being at school. However on the brighter side, there some students who actively participated which was great and Lorna asked them to stand up at the end of the lesson and asked the other students to appreciate them. She encouraged the other students not to be afraid , to also try and participate in class because in doing so, they are able to learn and build self esteem. After the review of the Pretest, we looked at all the topics under life skills and all the subtopics and this was done to prepare the students for what they will be studying and learning throughout the course of the program.
