Notes
Harriet and Tape went to Mpumiro village to build the first a first demonstration stove. The meeting took place at the lower section that is group C. They first inspected the quantity and quality of the grass the community that has so far chopped. Interestingly the community had worked tirelessly and had chopped one bag of grass which was nice to see. Kibo staff asked the community to identify a member who will get the first demonstration stove in this section.By consensus they all agreed on one old woman Jeska to get a stove with the reason that she is the eldest woman in the group, furthest and has always attended the meeting. They wanted it to act as an example that hard work pays and also as a sign of showing love to the elderly people in the community. Kibo staff asked the community to join them in collecting the termite dirt from the anti hill , collect banana stems from the banana garden. Kibo staff measured and mixed the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1 , sprinkled water on it, stamped the dirt until it got ready and moved it into the kitchen. Kibo staff built a stove for Jeska as they explained the whole process. Interestingly the community was very attentive and asked so many questions that kibo staff answered. This was so encouraging and showed that the community was very interested in the program. Kibo staff thanked the community for being active in the program and privatizing the needy and the elderly. They also asked them to continue working together both in identifying the next participants to get stoves and during the stove building exercise . They also encouraged them to continue smearing their home facilities in preparation of stove building Jeska the old woman who got a stove, thanked kibo for working with the community in identifying her for the stove though she was the eldest in the group and the furthest. She added that she never thought they will ever be the first one to get a stove in the entire Mpumiro village because she thought she was a no body. Kibo staff told them that the program is very very one in the community so asked the community to encourage every each and every one to attend the lessons.
