Notes
Jeska went to Kamudoke village to continue teaching stove building in group B. She found when the participants had already gathered at the meeting place. They had already identified the home where the stove would be built and the home had all the home facilities well smeared. The interesting part of the day the participants requested to participate in stove building as Kibo staff guides them. The community mixed the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1 , sprinkled water on it, stamped it until it got ready. They tried to measure banana stems and with this one they failed because they measured a very big banana stem to create a hole where the big saucepan will sit. This would require a lot of firewood for food to get ready. Kibo staff corrected their mistake and told them that size of banana stem for the big Saucepan to sit, they should measure two palms and place them on the banana stem to be perfect. The community started building the stove but they messed it when it came to putting a vent ( banana stem for the vent) this would affect the effectiveness of the stove as smoke will be contained in the kitchen. At the end of the day a stove was successfully built though it took long. Kibo staff thanked the community for taking courage to participate. Encouraged them to continue practicing because practice makes perfect. The community also thanked Kibo staff for giving them an opportunity to participate in stove building, they promised to Kibo on practicing until they are perfect.
