Notes
Maria visited Nawampiti the lower section to teach about postnatal care, post abortion care and antenatal care. The Health educator started by introducing the topic, welcomed the community members to the health education lesson. Then health educator asked the members the meaning of antenatal, post natal, post abortion care. After the many definitions from community members, Maria gave a clear definition of antenatal care as service given to mothers during pregnancy. Maria together with the community members discussed the challenges that they face when they go for antenatal care in the near by health facilities. Maria asked members mostly the mother, when to start attending antenatal care and most of them said at 5 months, at 6 months. The health educator advised members to go for antenatal care as early as 1month. Sandra said that men do not take their responsibilities like supporting women to go to hospital (finically), the health workers are so unfriendly to the mothers, some did not know that it is important to hospitals after delivering , Musa pinned the women of not telling the men about the date for antenatal care, not even letting men know of the pregnancy until it is visible. Maria said that antenatal care, postnatal care and post abortion care are for both the mother and the father, she advised the members to be free to each other( the marrieds), support each other, and create more love in the family. The health educator then discussed the risks of not attending antenatal care and postnatal care, the different activities or services offered in antenatal and postnatal care. There is checking of blood pressure, check blood group, health talks, prepare the mother and father for hospital delivery etc. The community members who attended the meeting were so great full for the knowledge and advise given to them.
