Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Tape went to Busene village to guide the participants to form policies that will govern the healthy and safe kitchens program. The participants came late for the meeting. The meeting begun with an open prayer that was led by Naigaga. Tape told the participants that she was disappointed with the participants because most of them turned up late for the meeting.she told them that late coming may fail them to benefit from the program. She asked to set time for the meeting and penalties for late coming. One participants called Edisa apologized on behalf of the community for having turned up late and suggested that meeting should always take place at midday and who ever shows up after midday should pay a fine of Ugx 500 and this will be acceptable for not more than three consecutive times. If some ones misses or turns up late for more than three times should be excommunicated from the group and if he/ she has already got the stove , the stove should be dismantled so that he / she looses like any other person. One participants asked that what will happen incase some one misses the meeting because he/ she has a sick family member or him/ herself is sick or has lost a relative. Paul said that in case of a situation like that he or she should communicate to the program community leaders who will communicate to the rest of the members but if he/ doesn’t communicate he/ she will be charged too. They also said that some women are quarrelsome which may discourage other people from working with them. One of the community member Mr. Kabugo asked the women to respect one another for the program to be effective but Incase some one is found a culprit he/ she should face a committee that will give him a punishment. One woman called Edisa said added as far as keeping time for the meetings, they should never wait for the committee members to remind them to come for meeting because the next meeting date is always agreed in the previous meeting. Tape thanked the community for having identified their own weaknesses that may fail the success of the program and having put in place measures to address them. She asked them to respect the policies that they have set themselves. The community thanked kibo for being patient with them and promised to improve for better results. She also told them that they need to smear their home facilities before stove building exercise commences this is because smearing enables their kitchens to look neat and last longer. She told them that Kibo will work with them through this practically.
