Notes
Diana went to Nawandyo B, to continue with the lesson of early marriages and to carry out evaluation on the lesson of early marriages and bride price. Diana got when the community had not yet gathered, she went around some of the nearby homes to mobilize the community. Most people were in the gardens, at least she managed to get some members who joined the lesson. The secretary Khamadi welcomed everyone and opened with a word of prayer. He thanked them for leaving their gardens to come and attend the lessons. He said that, it is a good sacrifice for Kibo, this is because Kibo has blessed them with a lot of programs. He welcomed Diana to take them through the lesson of the day. Diana thanked the community for coming and told them she knows it is a planting season, that is why she will always be patient with them, because she knows how important garden work is to them. Diana asked the community to dance the common Kisoga dance, which the community did with a lot of excitement. Diana did this after noticing that some came dragging their feet for the lesson, because they were tired. The dance sent away the tiredness and sluggishness from the community members. It is also a good thing to see the community bond together through music and the community empowerment lessons. The dance made them happy. Diana asked them what they remember from the previous meeting, Sarah said she remembers how to take care of their their children, she also added on that, it is not good to marry off children when they are still young, Sofia added on that, it is good to show their children love, so that they do not get it from somewhere else. Khamadi said that parents should visit their children at school so that they know whether the children are at school or not. Diana thanked them for their contributions. She told them that it is good for every parent to take care of their children. Diana continued with the lesson of early marriages and asked them, how the lesson of early marriages and bride price has benefited their community. Khamadi for him, he is blessed, the lessons have made him realize the beauty of loving his children and always being there for them, his children are happy and are always open to him. Mrs Zironda said that she is blessed, because she didn’t have time for her daughters not knowing that they needed her more, she thanks the Community Empowerment for being there for them. She can now freely interact with her children, which was not the case before. Florence also added on that she now encourages her children to bring their friends home, this helps her to know the friends her children are hanging out with. The evaluation continued with some members saying that they are speechless because their community has greatly been transformed and they are really living happily with their children. They have worked hard to see that their children are at school and they will keep talking to them as well as visiting them at school. This was very impressive to Diana and the community empowerment program. It is a blessing to see the community appreciate what is being taught to them and on top of that putting everything into practice. Diana thanked them for their time and told them that she will continue with her assessment in the next visit. The chairman mr Kiige also thanked Kibo as a program for supporting their community always. He encouraged the community members to keep attending these lessons, because he has seen a lot of transformation in their community.
