Notes
Ida went to Ndalike to teach about chicken feeds. Ida found a group of seven people waiting for her. Tatya requested the members to let the lessons begin because the majority have declined in keeping time. The members agreed to continue the lesson and those who will come late the chairperson will do the recap. Ida asked one volunteer to explain the egg marking process , Mugote George stood and explained the whole process and the rest clapped for him. She asked the ladies around what they feed their children the first hour / day. Kyokali said “breast milk only “ and the reason being babies can’t chew. Ida thanked Kyokali and told the members that it’s the same way with chickens too. The first food for chics from day one to week eight is Chic and duck mash. From week 1 to week 20 is growers mash for cocks and layers mash for hens. By the end of week seven any one can identify a cock from a hen and at this time you separate cocks and hens. The reason as to why we give growers mash to cocks, is that they eat a lot when put together with hens, the hens will loose weight because they eat less. Also the ingredients used to make Growers mash are mostly for cocks not layers. The secretary took good notes because there’s a lot of mathematics which needs to be recorded down for memory purposes. Tapenensi closed the meeting with a word of prayer.
