Notes
Ida went to Bukoma C to finalize the home visits and assess the knowledge and understanding of the previous lessons. Ida found when the the chairperson’s wife Scovia was waiting for her so that she directs her where to go. Ida visited thirteen homes beginning from the chairperson’s house where all home facilities were in place and in good condition. The latrin, dishrack, bathroom, kitchen and chicken coop were good in general the hygiene and sanitation standard is good. As Ida was visiting homes, she asked questions relating to all lessons taught according to community empowerment curriculum. Bukoma C was taught by Ikumbya community how to keep chickens, of which Bukoma C embraced and went beyond! This community did not just keep chickens but also collected eggs from community members and took them for incubation in the nearby town( Kiyunga) which boosted their daily income. Because of that reason, Community empowerment program didn’t teach poultry lessons because they had already learned from Ikumbya community. All lessons were taught and the members proved that they learned according to how they were answering and asking questions. Community empowerment staff will visit Bukoma C after six(6)months to monitor the progress of the community empowerment lessons.
