Notes
The purpose for the village that day was to follow up on the improvements of the buildings such as smearing of the houses in section A of the village. This was because it was reported that the community members from that section had poor kitchens which needed to be smeared and other buildings. Suzan walked along with two group leaders whom she found already at the meeting place. During the home to home visit, Suzan found some young ladies cooking on the three stones open flames stove in the kitchens which needed to be smeared. When she asked one of them named Agatha why they didn’t smear their kitchens although they were well roofed, she replied saying most of the women around hardly found enough time to improve on their homes because they spent much time attending to their gardens and looking for firewood in the forest. It was also reported that most of the domestic work was carried out by the women without help from their husbands. Kibo staff encouraged the women to begin pleasing their husbands by showing them love through preparing meals for them on time as well as respecting them because by doing so would make their husbands assist in the domestic work as well as repairing the home facilities. She also requested the women to encourage their husbands to begin attending the healthy and safe kitchens program which will enable them learn all the skills of living in a healthy and safe kitchen. She encouraged all the participants to keep improving on their facilities before receiving a fuel efficient stove in their kitchens, only those with smeared kitchens and improved facilities will be the first to receive the fuel efficient stoves stoves. This can motivate others to improve on their facilities faster because they are in need of a fuel efficient improved stove. She thanked the participants for their time taken and wished them a happy stay.
