Notes
At the district head quarters, Alex met with the Environmental officer Mr. Alex and shared about how the district environment office can further partner with kibo group to give trees to villages kibo is working with in the district. The environment officer expressed his appreciation to kibo for playing this key role in ensuring that people in the district plant trees since there is now a very big concern of people that have cut down almost all kinds of trees in the district. As a district they have tried to plant and encourage people to plant but still not enough yet. Alex told them that as kibo we are in plan to plant trees in four villages in Namutumba district this rain season and would be good if the district partnered with kibo to plant and encourage people in these villages. The district forestry officer(DFO) Mr William and Mr. Alex together promised to get some trees from the district and also support these villages. This was such a good gesture and we hope this will show that the government is also taking part in partnership with kibo group. The DCDO was very busy in other meetings and so the meeting with him didn’t take place. Alex then made a quick visit to Butabira to meet with the chairman and his committee and encouraged them to remain active at all times. This is to ensure that the village stays engaged with kibo as the next program life skills plans to start there sometime in May. The sanitation committee together with village chairman Mr. Patrick have continued to encourage people to maintain their sanitation standards and the chairman makes reminders at all village meetings and funerals. It was a quick visit indeed since the village had lost someone and were rushing to go for the burial. The previous departments, WASH and stoves will continue to engage this village not to create a big gap before Life skills gets in. Alex observed some homes that had kept good sanitation standards as encouraged by Kibo group.
