Notes
Maria visited Nawandyo A lower section to teach about Malaria. The health educator introduced the topic as Malaria, she asked the members to define Malaria, share the causes of Malaria, discuss the signs and symptoms of malaria and also share how malaria is prevented and treated. Nangobi said that malaria is caused by mosquitoes, the health educator clarified by informing the members that, not every mosquito causes malaria but only the female mosquito called anopheles mosquito. The signs and symptoms of malaria were given by the members; vomiting, loss of appetite, headache, joint pains etc. Furthermore the ways in which malaria can be prevented were discussed by community members and the health educator. The health educator encouraged members to sleep under a treated mosquito net, keep the compound clean by clearing the bush around the home, pregnant mothers should go to hospital for antenatal care because the health workers will give drugs to prevent malaria and also provide a new treated mosquito net to the mother. Members appreciated the services , knowledge, effort, love that Kibo renders to this village.
