Tape went to Mpumiro village to teach participants in Group A how to build stoves/ to build the first demonstration stove in group A.
She found when the community had already gathered the dirt , banana stems, grass , water waiting for Kibo staff to teach them stove building. They had also identified the participant to get the stove and all his home facilities were well smeared. She applauded the group for being active and asked them to keep up the spirit.
Tape mixed the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1 as she explained the whole process, interestingly when it came to stamping the dirt every one participated which showed interest in the program and active participation.
Tape built a stove as she explained the whole process. During the stove building exercise the community was curious to know how much time the stove needs before it starts cooking. Tape told them that the stove needs to spend at least a month before they start cook on it to allow it to get dry because if they rash to cook on it it will crack.
She also told them that stove building under goes stages there fore they need to keep on turning the saucepans used to build the stove for two weeks until the banana stoves are taken out to avoid the saucepans sticking in there as the stove dries up.
The community appreciated the lesson and promised to keep on attending until they learn how to build stoves on their own.
