Notes
Tape went to the village to teach the community how to build the fuel efficient stoves, this time the stove was going to be built at one of the group leaders home named robinah whom the participants selected. When she arrived, she found the participants already gathered at the home with all the materials for building assembled. The members began fetching the dirt from the anthill while taking it outside next to the kitchen where the stove was going to be built. Tape encouraged the community to always work together as a team so as to quicken up the work and go back for other activities at home. She began measuring the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1 while the community was watching aside because this was one of the most important steps to master at the beginning before stove building. Two active men and three women offered to assist in mixing the dirt, spread it and sprinkled water all over it. Together they began stamping the dirt while singing and dancing until it got ready for building. One of the active men commented saying that he is so great full for the new program and can’t wait to begin cooking food with his wife since the kitchen will no longer produce smoke. Tape also taught the community how to cut and level the banana stems which will be fixed in the stove. The stamped dirt was carried inside the kitchen and Tape began building the stove step by step while explaining to the community members. They also kept on asking different questions during the stove building which was important because it enabled them to learn easily. Later after building the stove, some members participated in smoothening it using banana stems. The community was so great full for the lessons taught and Tape encouraged them to continue improving on all their facilities such as smearing them and reconstructing the kitchen roofs. She thanked everyone for attending the lessons and the meeting came to an end.
