To educate the participants that there is no cure for AIDS

Purpose of the visit, Manuel went to Kagulu village to review the previous lessons then teach the participants about cure or treatment for HIV. Manuela reached the Kagulu village, she didn’t find anybody at the meeting place, she decided to move around to remind members, after gathering participants she decided to teach the participants in to section, she first met the first group then later taught the second group, in both sessions Manuela started her lesson by reviewing the previous lessons, she asked the participants to remind her about what they learnt previously, their response was not good that Manuela needed to repeat the lessons for the first group unlike the second group participants managed to share their ideas about the previous lesson. While Manuela was reviewing the previous lesson, Manuela asked the participants that which part of the session would they want her to repeat, they whole said stages of disease Progression, okay Manuela explained to them well and at the end she evaluated them and they were able to share their ideas about stages of disease Progression. After that review. Manuela introduced the lesson of the day, cure or treatment for HIV, she started this lesson by asking the participants is there cure for HIV, surprisingly some of the participants said yes, Manuela was shocked and asked them where, who gives? Then usuf one of the participants said that it’s the white people that have the medicine, but the rest of the participants were saying no, HIV has no cure. Manuela asked participants who said that HIV has cure, where did they get this information from? They said from people and sometimes through the radio when people are giving testimonies and in churches etc. Manuela told them that it’s a lay, what is there is only the ARVs which is used for treatment and to bost the immune systems it dose not cure HIV. After that explanation, one of the participant Faridah, asked Manuela that why Would someone say that he or she is cured of HIV yet they have been HIV positive? Manuela bounced back the question to them to think about it. Manuela gave them 10 minuets. After that time Manuela asked what do they think, they responded that maybe God healed them, maybe the ARVs that they were talking etc. Manuela explained to them saying that sometimes when someone is HIV positive and she or he is following instructions given by the doctor, for example taking medication in time, eating well balanced diet food, doing exercise, having enough rest, etc their CD4 count can be good hence leading to law viral lord in their bodies, that is why sometimes they test negative but it dose not mean that they don’t have the virus, they have it at law rate. After that clarity, Manuela asked them more questions they said they are certain. Manuela gave them homework to work on about mother to child transmission and told them to keep time.
