Notes
Maria visited Nawampiti village lower section to teach about immunization. The meeting started by asking members the definition of immunization. it’s benefits, available vaccines, challenges that refuse them from getting immunized and when to get them. Nangobi answer and said that immunization is the injection given to babies, Sylvia said it is when a child is given drops in mouth. Then the staff gave a clear answer saying that it is a process by which a person’s immunity is boasted by vaccines to fight against a certain disease. Maria then discussed with the members some of the challenges and benefits of immunization. Lack of vaccines, lack of qualified health workers, some men refuse their wive to take child in fear of the child to cry after immunization etc were some of the challenges . Thereafter the benefits of immunization were discussed, There is a reduction in deaths, you reduce on the money you spent in hospitals on treatment Isabirye said. The staff together with the members then discussed the different diseases that are immunized and when / where a certain vaccine is given polio, whooping cough, measles, diarrhea among others and she encouraged members to embrace immunization, Maria said that immunization in child is from 0 zero to 5 five years though even adults can be immunized for diseases like Tetanus, COVID-19 etc. She continued and said that most of the vaccines are free of charge ( the government has already paid for it ). Maria encouraged the men to support their wives in taking their children for immunization as the vaccines are safe and free. The chairperson thanked Kibo for its effort , love and knowledge offered to Nawampiti community and he closed with a word of prayer.
