Notes
Diana went to Igerera B, upper section to continue with the lesson of love in the family. Diana got when the community had not yet gathered, most of them were still in the gardens. Diana over heard one of the ladies who was coming from the garden, saying that she will only attend the lessons, if the salt and soap is brought. The other women who had started gathering also laughed, Sumaya responded saying that the woman does not know what she is saying, because most of them can testify how the community empowerment lessons are impacting their families. Diana moved around some few homes to mobilized them for community empowerment lessons. Most people in the community are in planting season, so they leave the gardens very late, and some members end up not coming. Diana came and got when some members had already gathered. Mr. Kamya Charles welcomed the members and requested Nasurumbi Rose to open with a word of prayer, which she did. Kamya thanked everyone who came and told them that the garden work is there, but they should also respect the Kibo programs. He welcomed Diana to take them through the lesson of the day. Diana thanked the Chairman and the community members for sacrificing their work to attend the community empowerment lessons. She started by asking them what they learnt from the previous lesson. Sauda said that she learnt how to love her husband and children, Ali said that he remembers to treat others well and always be there for others. Faridah also added on that having jealousy and bitterness does not solve anything. Diana thanked them for their good contribution. She added on that love in the family goes beyond loving your own family, but also people around them. Naigaga said that she has a neighbor who is a witch, how can she love such a person who has made her life miserable. Diana responded telling her that she is a human being made in God’s own image, Like Jesus died for the whole world therefore there is need to show love to such people and forgive them like Jesus did. He did not revenge on those who crucified Him, but He forgave them. Diana also told them to pray for people of that kind, so that they turn away from their evil ways. Kimaka raised his hand, Diana told him to speak, he said that women are disrespectful to their husbands, they call their husbands names like ‘you’, meaning ‘Yuwe, . He went on to say instead of calling their husbands names like my love, the women laughed, Namukose shouted why don’t they call the women also my love and yet they want the women to call them my love. She continued saying that they call them mama junior, or mama Sarah or you woman. The women chorused saying it is true. Diana told them that it is wrong to disrespect one another, since they both got together because of love within them. The chairman Kamya also commented saying that not listening to one another has killed the love in the family, women and men don’t want to listen to one another, they are all wise in their own understanding, which is wrong. It is from here that the children have learnt such manners of not listening when they are called. Charles added on that the parents should be good role models in their homes. A community full of respect and love, is a healthy community. He called on the community to emulate love , and honor the good lessons Diana and community empowerment program is teaching them. He said that the messages that are given are now nursing their wounds internally and physically. Wow Diana was grateful for the good contributions and compliments these people gave. She told the community to clap for the teacher’s of the day. She went on to say that she loves a participatory class and she also wants them to be her teachers. Since it was already late, Diana requested they stop there. She will introduce a new lesson of chores and responsibilities in the next visit. The community was so happy for the lesson and some ladies came to Diana for counseling, this showed Diana how these lessons are important and are already impacting the community.
