Tape went to the village purposely to teach the community members how to smear their houses. This was going to be a practical lesson because some people didn’t know how to smear their houses well.
When she arrived she found the community at the meeting place who welcomed her and they first sat down together and discussed how the activity was going to be carried out that day. The community had already chosen a member where the demonstration was going to be carried out, and together they walked there.
The members began fetching dirt while taking it near the kitchen that was going to be smeared. They mixed the dirt with ash and water in different containers and Tape began demonstrating how smearing is carried out and the rest of the community members also participated as Kibo staff was guiding them.
She explained how it was important to be smearing all their buildings at least after two months. This makes the entire home look neat and healthy to live around. She encouraged them to keep improving on all their facilities before the stove building lessons began and reconstruct new structures which were worn out completely. They thanked Kibo staff for the lessons taught that day and the meeting came to an end.
