Notes
Maria together with Harriet visited Bukudumira village upper section to tech about immunization; the challenges mothers and children face while or after immunization, awareness about immunization, explain the immunization card, encourage members to seek immunization. The meeting started by defining the term immunization, immunization is polio, immunization is the injections given on leg, “members defined”. The Kibo staff gave a clear definition to the members saying it is when an individual is given medicine to protect the body against a certain disease. The challenges that hinder them from immunizing their children were discussed ; the injections given are many, painful, children cry so much after the injection, men are tough on women when their children cry etc members shared. Maria said that the injections causes some fever for about 1-2days, she encouraged members to take their children for immunization for the drugs are safe and the government has paid for it. Men were asked / advised to give more support to their wives; remind them the date, give some money for transport, etc. Furthermore, Maria explained the immunization card to members, teaching them what drug is given at what age and for what disease. Members were so grateful for the knowledge offered to them by Kibo staff.
