Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa A, to continue with poultry lessons(Raising). As usual the committee members are always the first to arrive. Diana got when they had organized the sitting place. Waiswa, with the rest of the team welcomed Diana. Diana asked the men what was happening in the neighborhood, because she saw some of the members at Beatrice’s place, Mpata’s immediate neighbor, Wako responded that one of Beatrice’s children had bought a brand new car and he had just returned from Somalia. Diana told them that, it is good to have such achievements in the community. Wilbur responded saying that, it is because of the lessons that were taught to them by community empowerment, that has transformed their community. He said that ‘Aunt Diana you told us that if we stopped envying people, over drinking, having wrangles and fights, the community will start seeing developments, now the road is there, and our brothers have started bringing cars’, pointing at the new car parked in the neighborhood. Diana was excited, as she clapped for them. She encouraged them if they continue working hard more cars and developments will appear in their community. It was a beautiful moment to see how excited the community was towards the new car that was brought. Community members flocked to see the new car as if they had received a president in their community. Diana asked the committee members why they didn’t tell her when she called them before she left the office. Wilbur and Waiswa responded that, they also thought that the community will first attend the lessons, before going for the feast of welcoming a new car in their community, but they were also surprised to see everyone matching towards the venue. They asked Diana and Kibo to forgive them. Waiswa said that it won’t happen again. Diana didn’t blame them, because she saw the joy they had in receiving the first car of their own in the community. Diana told them that it is ok, she will instead carry out home visits. She encouraged them to go and attend the welcome party for the new car, as it is a custom in African culture. Diana started her home visits in Gontia’s family. Diana had taken long without seeing the wife of Gontia, so she decided to pay her a visit, Diana found when she was ill, she couldn’t sit, because of the back pain, kidneys and the uterus were also affected. Diana asked Lovinsa, if she had got treatment, Lovinsa responded that she got. Diana told her that is good. She told her that she has to take her medicine on time, and also force herself to eat, since the body also wants energy. Diana told Lovinsa that God has good plans for her. She has to be strong and follow the doctors orders, so that she can take care of her children. Diana had a good time with Lovinsa, whom she left happy with her entire family. Diana also went to Mpata’s home and found the wife who had just given birth. Diana had good time with her as she congratulated her for bringing a new baby in the world. Diana told her that babies are delicate she needs to maintain hygiene. Which she agreed to do. Diana encouraged her to embrace chicken rearing, which will help in boosting her income. Mpata’s wife welcomed this idea so much, she told Diana that she will not stop until gets very many chickens. Diana continued to Salongo’s home. Salongo among the basoga’s means the father of twins. Salongo was too excited to see Diana. Diana got when they were sorting peanuts, she joined in to help this excited them more. As Diana helped them she talked to people who were around, Salongo said the community empowerment lessons have helped them a lot, he used not to help his wife and children, but now he helps them. He lives happily with his family, and there are no more quarrels and fights. Diana was happy to hear such compliments from Salongo, who would drink and even sleep on the road. Diana spent most of her time with them and she told them to keep time in the next community empowerment lessons. Her visits ended with Salongo’s home.
