Learning Objectives
To educate the students about the Bridge Model and the categories of life skills.
Notes
Purpose of the visit to Bulyowa primary school, Manuela went to this school to review the previous lesson on the Importance of Menstrual Hygiene and Management then teach about the Bridge Model referring to the Behavior Change. Manuela asked the students about the previous lesson, students were able to share their ideas, after that, Manuela asked the students to share with her their findings on the home given to them. After that exercise, Manuela introduced the lesson of the day as the Bride Model. Manuela asked what do they understand buy the term the bride Model, one of the students said that it means some thing that enables one to pass from one side of the river to another said, it can be a long, mental etc. Manuela further discussed and explained to the students what the bride Model is, Manuela told the students that parents wants their children to be good citizens in future but the society where they comes from is full of problems that deviate their plans for their children, she mentioned that as she explaining the history of the Bridge Model as she was referring to the Behavior Change that leads to positive healthy life styles ,Manuela demonstrated all the steps in the Bridge Model. Manuela also explained to the students about behavior change. After that explanation, she encouraged the students to continue changing their behavior though it’s not easy but she told them to try to change their behaviors. Manuela also talked about factors young people are facing in the community, Manuela asked the students and they were able to share their ideas like early marriages and pregnancy, child labor, child trafficking, poverty, lack schools fees, family violence, bad peer groups etc. Manuela asked the students how can they overcome such factors, one of the students said through practicing life skills information well, listening to the elders advise etc. After that, Manuela explained to the students about the missing life skills and it’s category. Manuela talked about the importance of Decisions making, Communication Skills and Relationships Skills, Manuela encouraged the students to practice those skills in their daily lives to avoid temptation on their ways. After teaching at school, Manuela went to the community to teach but unfortunately due to rain, she did not teach.
