Notes
Alex B and Alex W met with a group of Bupaluka members who received goats from Kibo group last year in November to discuss the importance of having a goats clinic and have their goats treated on the same day by a veterinary doctor once in 3 months. There has been a slow reaction from the community since the first time kibo shared with the community leaders about this new idea. The Mvule program thought it would be great to meet all the community members that received these goats and talk about it in depth having realized the positive impact from the other communities where this goats clinic has been conducted. The community leader, Mr Mutoto Saul and Peter told the Kibo staff that they had tried to talk to all the members about this idea but it looked like they needed more clarification from Kibo group and indeed it was a good thing for kibo staff to come and meet all the people . The community members accepted to try out this idea as a community and all suggested to have it conducted on 23/03/2022. All this is an effort to prevent the goats from getting sick and eventually to die out of ignorance and community neglect. The community suggested that the exercise should begin earlier to catch up with time. Alex W and Alex B also encouraged all the community members to remain active and work together. The fact that kibo group no longer conducts weekly visits to their village shouldn’t mean that it’s the end of it all to do other things as a community since they are now well established and in position to progress on their own. The community members promised to continue with a discussion about bringing back offsprings whether in form of cash or a goat to help them carry our other activities as a community. 42 goats out of 43 goats they received from kibo group are still alive. The community members were also mobilized by the kibo group staff for a hand washing triggering to be conducted on Friday 18/03/2022 and were requested to mobilize each other to turn up in big numbers and attend this important activity.
