Notes
Harriet was in Busene village to continue following up on smearing and teaching the materials required for building stoves. She was disappointed not to find the community members at the meeting place but at the same time gave her an opportunity to sample some homes and monitor smearing progress. Some participants had started smearing their home facilities though they were only concentrating on the outside walls. During the follow up she encouraged them to smear both the inside, outside walls and the floor. Also came across some participants who had stopped cooking from their kitchens after smearing them because they did not want smoke make the walls dirty as they cook on the traditional open flames. During the meeting most participants turned up with the right full type of grass( coach grass) for building stoves except one woman who who had missed the previous lesson. Harriet was able to correct her by showing her the right type of grass that other members had brought to the meeting. She later demonstrated to them how to chop grass that will be used to build stoves. She also asked each participants to try to chop grass as she watched this was intended to ensure that they all learn how to chop grass because they are required to chop grass that will be used to build stoves. The community agreed among themselves that they will meet over the weekend and chop enough grass that KIbo will find during the meeting to demonstrate stove building. Harriet also tasked them to use their weekend meeting Avenue to identify among themselves the first participants to get a stove.
