Notes
Jeska was in Kamudoke village to continue guiding participants as they built stove on their own . This time she purposely focused on group B and she used a public address system for entertainment and mobilization tool as they built stoves. It was so interesting to see even some members who were not active in the program participating in stove building because the teaching method was it was entertaining and educative . Her target was for only participants in group B but because of the music other members from other groups also turned up. These other community members participated in stamping the dirt but when it came to stove building she limited the number to some few people in group A only because the kitchen could not accommodate a big number and it also easy to practically teach a small number because they are expected to participate. Also the men took the lead participating in stove building exercise especially throwing the dirt and molding the stove which was unique because in most cases men think the kitchen directly benefit the women thus hesitant to be in the fore front when it comes to stove building exercise. The community tried to build a stove though they are still struggling with measuring the banana stems used to build stove, targeting the wind direction because some times the owner of the stove lie when they are asked to tell the wind direction and this will affect the effectiveness of the stove because fire is lit by wind. Kibo staff further taught them how to measure banana stems used to build stoves and asked them to always participate because practice makes perfect.Kibo staff asked the participants to always tell the truth as far as wind directions is concerned for the stoves to be effective. She also asked them to try to build a stove on their own that they will look at during the next meeting. She also thanked the men for participating asked them to encourage more men to join the program because the program benefit the entire family not women alone.
