Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the smearing of the home facilities at the lower section of the village in preparation of the stove building lessons. This time the second stove building demonstration was going to take place in group B which was located at the lower side of the village. When she reached the village, she met some committee group leaders, Zaujja, Rehema,Fatima, and Monica at the meeting place who agreed to walk with her to the lower side of the village. As they walked, Kibo staff observed that a few community members had smeared all their buildings and put up good roofs while some needed to improve on their facilities. Some parents were not at home and only children were found trying to prepare food for the little ones and one of the elder boys reported that the parents had gone to plant groundnuts. Suzan went ahead and encouraged the members she met at home to prepare for the stove building lessons by improving on all their facilities such as smearing all the buildings, digging new rubbish pits and reconstructing new kitchen roofs. She also explained that only those with good facilities required will be the first to receive the fuel efficient stoves and one of the men promised to repair all his home facilities especially the kitchen which was poorly constructed. Although it was approaching to rainy season, the community members promised to improve on all their facilities before the stove building lessons began and to inform/mobilize new members to join the new healthy and safe kitchens program.
