Learning Objectives

To educate the participants to understand HIV and Behavior Change

Purpose of the visit to Kagulu village, is to educate participants about the importance of Behavior Change when a person is HIV positive or not.Manuela was in Kagulu village to review the previous lesson then teach about HIV and Behavior Change, this lesson is aimed at educating participants to understand that it’s very important to follow instructions given to them by the doctors other than misbehaving so that they can infect other people which is not right. Manuela was disappointed not finding the community members at the meeting place, Manuela decided to move around to mobilize community members but unfortunately they were not in their homes but still in their garden.Manuela came back to the meeting place and found only few people, Manuela requested for the members around that they should wait for the rest, they waited all in vines though few came. Manuela requested one volunteer to pray, after that Manuela asked the participants questions about the previous lesson, only 4 were able to share their ideas, the rest have forgotten, Manuela reviewed the previous lesson and explained it well, as she was explaining, Manuela encouraged the participants to try and share whatever they learnt with their children since Life Skills is active in school apparently. After that explanation of the previous lessons, Manuela introduced the new lesson, she asked the participants questions about the new lesson, some participants tried to share their ideas, Manuela further discussed the lessons to the participants, Manuela explained to the participants that it good to behave well while they are HIV positive, so that they can live longer, then Manuela asked participants questions about the lessons, participants sighted answers like, they should take their medication in time, they should stop having sex out of their marriage, use condoms, then one said that they should eat pock so that they become fat etc. After brain storming the participants, Manuela further added on saying treating other diseases like STDs early, checking for their CD4 count, pray to God, Associate with one another to avoid over worrying which is not good, getting time to rest well, eat well balanced diet food etc. Manuela asked the participants about the lesson, they said that it was good to learn what they don’t know because most people in that community are HIV positive but they don’t want to be known, so Manuela also emphasized on the stigma. While Manuela was teaching the participants, than it started to rain, Manuela decided to stop and told the participants that they will continue from there with the remaining part of this lesson in the next visit. Challenges, law tun up , majority of the participants were in their gardens planting peanuts and beans . By the time they were preparing to come for the lessons, weather was threatening to rain. But next time they will be able to come for the lessons.

2022-03-23 - Purpose: On that day, Manuela will review the previous lessons, then teach teach about the relationship between HIV and STDs.
