Notes
Buyange community is at a critical stage of making a decision of having kibo group support them through their onions project or give each household a goat as a way of improving their income levels, at this stage kibo group only guides as the community makes the final decision. This is day two of this lesson , day one was not successful as the community did not agree on which project to go with , either onions project or goats however Chris continues to engage the community through discussions on decision to receive goats. While in the community Chris and the community leaders decided that the entire community should first be mobilized and sensitized well before the general meeting so they embarked on home to home visitation, they were able to visit the 35 homes that missed the previous meeting trying to thoroughly explain to each household why they have to participate by giving their opinion regarding decision to receive goats, among the homes was Mrs Namugwere’s home, she asked Chris why Kibo is deciding to give the community goats, she said the reason the community is hesitant to make a decision is because they think Kibo group will come back for their goats in future because in Uganda no one just gives you anything for free however Chris explained and said the goats are for the community not for Kibo group and are solely for economic empowerment of the community, Kibo hopes that the community shall keep the goats well and be able to take care of their families in future. Chris also proceeded to Nr sembatiya’s home, he is an experienced goats supplier who has benefited a lot from goats, he thanks Kibo for thinking of the simplest way of improving the income levels of the community through offering them goats, Mr sembatiya said he is 60 years old and he has never seen a home in the community that has ever improved their income levels without having a goat , cows or chickens at their homes therefore he welcomed Kibo’s decision to give them the goats . The mobilization was very successful because all the 35 homes chris visited understood well why Kibo decides to give the community goats, the community shall now have a general meeting on Monday 21/03/2022 to make a final decision.
