- Notes
- Kibo Uganda and visitors from USA went to Butamoga village for celebration. This village was very receptive of all Kibo programs, in that you tell them to do something and in a few days they will be calling for Kibo to come and witness what they have done. They have worked with most of Kibo programs except life skills. Kibo worked with these women and men on their hygiene and sanitation to come as far as drilling a borehole, which has since seen the reduction ofsickness in homes, more children going to school because they were not falling sick and finally the doctor leaving the village because he was out of business.
Many district government officials showed up and the guest of honor was Chief administrative officer of Namutumba district, he said the things what Kibo is doing should have been done by the government but it can not and thats why Government partners with Non profits to help where they cannot. He said so long as he is in the office at the district he will support Kibo in any way. He encouraged the people in Butamoga to continue working together and that is how they will benefit from government programs. He also asked about the latrine percentage in the village which was 76% and he asked where the 24% go to ease themselves. He encouraged everyone to dig and construct latrines to avoid spread of diseases. He also encouraged the community to help those who did not have latrines especially the elderly, widows who cannot build for themselves. He also encouraged the elderly men and women to attend Adult literacy classes in the community by the government and also encouraged parents to take their children to school.
Kibo gave members one hundred goats but now they have two hundred and eighty six goats. One of the goats gave birth 3 hours into the celebration and this kid was handed over to the CAO who handed the project officially to the community. They also went to the borehole and Henry the CD handed over the borehole to the CAO who officially opened the borehole to the community. The women member of parliament gave the group five hundred thousand shillings to support what they are doing in the village.
Thank you Kibo for transforming this village to the highest level whereby they are also teaching other villages like Budomero what they have been taught by Kibo.
- Next Visit
- 2018-07-10 - Purpose: To discuss with the members because they can exchange goats into cows, it is easy to care for one cow than caring for five or eight goats.
