Notes
Harriet went to Busene village to build the first demonstration stove because in the previous meeting the community committed themselves to have chopped at least one bag of grass before the first stove because kibo had tasked them to do so. As the community they had agreed among themselves to meet the previous day before kibo visits their Village. Surprisingly she found the participants still chopping grass and had not yet filled one bag of grass that kibo had tasked them with though they were still chopping. Kibo staff looked at the chopped grass and was poorly chopped and these would easily pierce them as they stamp the dirt and even the stove build out of that would be rough. Also some participants had mixed the right type of grass with poor type of grass that is very hard and can not get dissolve in the dirt , easily hurt the participants during the stove building exercise. Kibo staff corrected their mistake by separating good quality grass from poor quality, she also re taught/ demonstrated again how best to chop grass. She encouraged them not to rush into doing things that is should not aim at filling the bag with grass but think of filling it with quality chopped grass that will be used to build stoves. During the meeting she also observed that some participants were chopping grass from their homes and later bring it to the meeting. Harriet encouraged the community to work together as a group to avoid such mistakes because for the healthy and safe kitchens program to be successful it requires teamwork. By the end of the day 3/4 bag of grass was chopped which was nice to see. Kibo staff thanked them for this achievement and asked them to identify a member among themselves who will get the first demonstration stove. The community thanked kibo staff for polite in addressing / correcting their mistakes. They promised to improve
