Notes
Diana and Ida went to Igerera B, to teach the lesson of chores and responsibilities in children. Diana and Ida got when there was no one in the meeting area, so they decided to move around the near by homes to continue mobilizing the community members. The chairman also continued mobilizing, although it was very hot, Diana and Ida managed to get some members who came to attend the lesson. Most of them were still in the gardens The chairman opened with a word of prayer. He apologized on behalf of the community members, for the low turn up. He told them that they should hurry with the planting so that they don’t keep the teachers (Ida and Diana) waiting for a long time like they did on this visit. He welcomed Diana and Ida to take over from there. Diana started by thanking those who attended for sacrificing their time to attend the lessons. Lukia immediately responded “Madam Diana and Ida we are sorry for the low turn up. We promise to be many in the next visit”. Diana told them that, it is ok, some times such changes are there and we cannot fight nature. Diana told them Kibo respects their work so much and they don’t want them to sleep hungry with their families. Ida added on that the garden work is very important in the community and it is one of your biggest income earning activity, therefore Kibo only wants a portion of your time, not all of it, so that everyone can benefit. Ida told them that even the Kibo staffs come to learn from them. Saudha said that what madam Diana and Ida are saying is very important and they really promise to adjust. Kimaka also added on that the community empowerment lessons have greatly transformed their families before even going half way of the lessons to be taught. He told parents to always be vigilant in attending the community empowerment lessons. The lessons have helped shape marriages that were crumbling in their community of Igerera B. Diana took them through a recap and later introduced the lesson of the day which was chores and responsibilities in children. She then invited Ida to take the community through this lesson. Ida told them that since it is clocking to 4:00pm, she begs they end there because she does not want their husbands to beat them up for delaying in the lessons. She told them to always keep time so that the lessons are handled at length. The Chairman mr. Kamya thanked Ida and Diana for their time and for always being patient with them. He encouraged the community to be responsible community members and attend the lessons that are developing their community of Igerera B.
