Notes
Alex while on his way to kishaike, stopped to check on the borehole status at Kagulu drilled by kibo group. The borehole wasn’t as clean as required and the water users together with the committee were encouraged to clean the soak pit and to replace the old borehole fence. However on a good note the borehole itself still functions very well with no any parts that need to be replaced. Alex then proceeded to kishaike village where he met with 87 people and discussed more about the benefits of tree planting and care for trees. This village is among those that were selected to benefit from the seedlings to be provided by the district forest office. The community was very excited and village leaders were very willing to lead the way by encouraging all people to plant a tree this rain season. Mr. Kalogo the village chairman has been an example in his community and he planted more than 1000 trees in his land after kibo group talking to them about benefits of trees and care about the trees. This village will expect 500 tree seedlings from the district and Alex went in to prepare them before they can receive these trees. They were also encouraged to plant other trees on their own during this season having realized that indeed its high time everyone woke up to plant trees and curb the problem of environmental degradation. The area LC 2 thanked kibo group for the initiative to encourage people in his parish to plant trees since we are on a timing bomb where by all kinds of trees have been cut down for charcoal and wood.
