Notes
Diana went to Nawandyo B, to teach poultry lessons. Diana got when no one had arrived at the meeting ground. The members were still in the gardens, since there was a heavy downpour of rain in their community the previous day, they utilized the time to dig. Diana told those she met to speed up because it was again threatening to rain. Diana had to move around in the nearby homes to continue mobilizing the community members. Luckily enough Some members started coming. Khamadi welcomed the members and Opened with a word of prayer. He thanked everyone for attending and requested them to always embrace the community empowerment lessons. He later welcomed the chairman who also encouraged the members to be vigilant in attending the lessons of community empowerment. This is because the lessons have greatly impacted their community of Nawandyo B. Yudaya, who is the chair lady in the community also appreciated the Community Empowerment program for bettering their lives in the community. Diana was impressed by the remarks of the community members. She thanked them for being vigilant in the community. She went on to say that, she knows that it is a season is for planting and since it is raining, everyone is busy in the gardens. However she requested them to give her some of the time so that they are all balanced. Sofia said that, she has really benefited from community empowerment lessons, she now lives happily with her husband and family. Diana introduced the lesson of day which was poultry. She asked them what they understand by chicken. Mrs. Zironda said that it is a bird that is reared at home, Waiswa also added that it is a bird that has very nice soup and everyone enjoys it to the extent of chewing the bones, this prompted the community to laugh so hard. Susan commented, ‘are you a grinding machine’, the members again laughed. The lesson became vibrant as the members contributed. Diana later told them that a chicken is the only bird that is slaughtered for the visitor and in-laws, everyone agreed saying it is true. Diana told them, that’s why each family needs to have chicken in their families, not only for eating, but for economic activity instead of being beggars in the community. The community agreed to what Diana was saying. Diana went on with the discussion. It became late and Diana had to end there because she started late teaching the lesson. She told the community members that she will continue with the poultry lesson in the next visit. Khamadi thanked Diana for being patient with them, if it were other people, may be they would have given up in the way the community members treat them. He promised that next time the community will keep time.
