Notes
Suzan went to Namusita to teach the community how to remove the banana stems from the previous built stove and to follow up on the smearing of the facilities. When she arrived, she met some committee group leaders with other members at the meeting place and together they first went to Betty’s home where the stove was built previously. Kibo staff and two active participants began taking out the stems step by step while others were watching aside. This was one of the important steps for the community to learn, later after, Suzan requested Betty to keep smearing her stove so as to stop it from cracking. This can be carried out at least once in a week by mixing dirt, cow dung and ashes to make it look neater. Later after, they went and followed up on the smearing of the facilities at the lower side of the village because most of the members there didn’t have well smeared kitchens and other buildings. Suzan observed that most members smeared only main houses and left out the kitchens, latrines and shower areas. She requested them to always see that all the buildings were neatly smeared and looked uniform which can also chase away insects and dust. They appreciated the new ideas and promised to improve on them as soon as possible. Kibo staff thanked the participants for attending the lessons and wished them a happy stay.
