Notes
Jeska went to Busene village to continue teaching participants how to build stoves. This was the second time to teach this village how to build stoves. She worked with the community to stamp the dirt and the interesting part of the day even men actively participated. Also the participant whom the community had identified for the stove had smeared her kitchen both the walls inside, outside and the floor. She build one stove as she explained the whole process. During the process of stove building there were two men and one woman Nabirye who picked the interest in learning how to measure banana stems used for building stoves and Jeska involved them. She also identified that some participants were competing to be considered to get stoves and this would bring conflicts in the community. Kibo staff encouraged them to be patient because the program aims at ensuring that every one in the community gets a stove. She encouraged them to always discuss and agree among them selves on who should get the next stove. She also challenged them to prioritize learning how to build stoves than rushing to get a stove because if some one’s stove got spoiled or changed the location of the kitchen she / he can build a stove on her own. She also told them the skill of building stoves can also be turned into business thus use it to earn some money. The community thanked Kibo staff for being patient with them and advising them. They promised to continue working together from the beginning to the end.
