Notes
Tape and Suzan went to the village to teach the community how to build the fuel efficient stove. This time the activity was going to take place at the at the lower section of the village because most members lived far apart from each other. Kibo staff found the community had already gathered the materials for building the stove and together they began collecting the dirt from the anthill while carrying it to Atim’s home where the stove was going to be constructed. Kibo staff took all the measurements of the dirt and grass at the ratio of 2:1, mixed it together and then poured water all over it. They stamped the dirt together while singing songs of motivation, this was intended to spice up everything and not to make the whole activity boring. The women sung and danced through out which also attracted more people to come. The dirt got ready and was carried inside the kitchen and Kibo staff requested the group to stand around while they taught them how to cut and level the banana stems going to be placed inside the stove. Kibo staff went back to the kitchen and began building the stove step by step as the rest of the members watched aside. About four active participants worked with Kibo staff in building the stove because Kibo staff requested them to keep practicing slowly by slowly until they learn on their own. The women kept on chatting and praising Kibo for the healthy and safe kitchens program, they began imagining how they were going to begin enjoying cooking on their new improved stoves once they dried up. In the end, one stove was successfully constructed and Kibo thanked everyone for turning up and encouraged them to continue improving on all their sanitation facilities.
