Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the kitchen safety and the construction of the firewood storages. This was supposed to be an abrupt visit because Suzan wanted to find out if the community had started cooking on their fuel efficient stove or not. She arrived at the village and found six committee group members who walked along with her mainly at the lower section of the village. They visited some homes while checking on different facilities such as the firewood storages, stove usage and smearing of the other buildings. During the home visits, Suzan observed that almost all the participants had constructed firewood storages but a few had good strong ones. Others used very weak poles to construct them which could easily collapse after some time once not reconstructed. One of the participants called Mutaka was found with enough firewood stocked on top of her storage and she explained saying it was important to stock firewood since it was soon coming to rainy season. Other kitchens had three stones open flames stoves along with the new improved stoves although they didn’t cook on them, when Suzan asked why, one of the members Hasifa replied saying that they feared to loose their husbands once they took out the three stones stove. Suzan went ahead and explained to them how it was a false statement by giving examples of those who still have their husbands yet they took out the three stones stoves from their kitchens. She also encouraged the participants to always construct stronger firewood storages so that they save enough firewood and lasted longer as well as to continue cooking on their fuel efficient stoves on a daily basis. The members were so grateful for the advice given and the meeting came to an end.
