Notes
Diana went to Igerera B, upper section to continue with the lesson of chores and responsibilities in children. She got when the community had not gathered, she moved around some homes to mobilize the community, but still the number was not that big but worth it. Most of the people were still in their gardens. The chairman Mr. Kamya welcomed the community and he opened with a word of prayer. He thanked everyone for attending and thanked the community empowerment program for their great efforts in the community. He welcomed Diana to take them through the lesson of the day. Diana thanked the Chairman and everyone who attended the community empowerment lessons. She told them that she knows that they are busy in the gardens, but should spare some time for the Kibo lessons. She told them that at least everyone should come with a friend in the next visit. Faridah responded ‘yes, we shall come with them’. Diana thanked her and asked them what they remember from the previous lesson. James said that he remembers how to teach their children how to work, Beatrice also responded that children should be taught to work so that they help their elderly parents. Charles also added on that not only elderly, but as long as the children respect their parents and those who are older than them. Diana thanked everyone for their good contribution. She introduced the lesson of the day which was the continuation of chores and responsibilities in children. She added on that parents who introduce their children as heirs put themselves at a risk of being killed by the their own children, so that they own up their parent’s property. Also the siblings can turn against the one who has been chosen as the heir. Diana told them that, if they have a favorite child in mind they should tell one of the elders or put it in writing that, ‘Dennis or James’ will be the heir so that, it is read when they are of age. Namukose agreed and said that it is true, this will not show favoritism in children. The discussion went on as Diana and the community interacted. She later ended the lesson because it was already late, and promised to continue with the lesson in the next visit. She thanked the chairman and the community for coming and told them to keep time in the next visit.
