Maria visited Nawampiti upper section to teach about Burns and gastrointestinal worms. The meeting started by discussing the different causes of burns, how to handle a person with a burn, prevention and treatment. Geoffrey mentioned several ways through which one can get a burn; boda boda riders and passenger in case of an accident, when a person or child get burned of porridge, beans etc. members were advised by the health educator to get the stoves that Kibo builds because they’re safe and health for any person. Members gave several ways of treating burns locally, Maria advised them to take the person to the hospital as soon as possible for proper medication and management. Meanwhile Maria advised members to pore clean cold water to the affected area as they move to the hospital to prevent the burn from spreading. Further more members together with Maria discussed the types of gastrointestinal worms, signs and symptoms, how to prevent and treat it in case one gets it. Naigaga mentioned loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea,vomiting etc. the health gave several ways of getting the gastrointestinal worms; eating raw foods like pork, fish etc and she encouraged members to drink clean water, and fully cooked food to avoid getting worms. Maria encouraged members to go to hospital and get dewormer after every six months both adults and children and make ensure that your family members wash their hands before eating anything.
