Notes
Having conducted hand washing triggering on March 30, Alex went back to check on the improvements made in the village and how people have embraced the new hand washing method promoted by kibo group. Alex witnessed 4 new stands that were constructed in one day by the two builders that were picked to construct them. The number of people that are showing interest to construct these stands is increasing every day with many people working so hard to get money to buy the cement and bricks needed to build these stands. The first one week after the triggering was very slow because many people claimed they didn’t have money but also the interest has now picked up among the people. Alex together with the village leaders visited 23 homes and encouraged village residents to construct hand washing facilities in their homes and talked to the old people to teach their kids to practice hand washing. The kids that have seen these hand washing stands completed in their homes are so happy to hab3 these facilities and these kids were taught more by Alex to wash their hands every time after visiting the pit latrine. The village leader Mr. Joshua Kaida was encouraged to roll out this program together with the sanitation committee to all households in the households in Kagulu- Bukufe section. The water user committee led by Livingston will encourage all the water users in Kagulu to build these stands in their homes before continuing to enjoy the clean fresh water from the recently drilled well by kibo group.
